these aren't my writings....

but i like them-- some are lyrics, some poems---
the artist is Jaymay, she opened for the band Dirty on Purpose when i saw them for the second time in williamsburg--i first saw Dirty on Purpose somewhere in downtown ny, liked them enough to trek out to williamsburg (but this was two years ago)-- she's amazing live, but usually stays in nyc or london, so i haven't seen her live since-- her album is recently on itunes-- but she has a lot more songs that aren't on itunes-- these are just some good writings:

Lonely Men Built Lonely Cities---->

Lonely men built lonely cities
she worked hard until she was beautiful still he
noticed nothing unusual this was his way
he's gonna stay devoted to the project
and she's committed herself to not caring anymore
her heart wasnt sore she was sure she had cured

the burden of loving someone may be better than loving no one

she's lookin up her mind says maybe
or else she's so crazy it's slavery
to begin it again, pick it up from the end
save the pieces that never gave never bend
still the whole time there's this light
it wont let her say goodnight
some white beam of hope in the sky
has her questioning why
has her constantly tryin and lyin inside
has her hidin away like some potential bride
who keeps turnin her back like the turn of the tide

the burden of loving someone may be better than loving no one
the burden of loving someone may be better than loving no one

when u feel what yre feelin with all of yr might
u write down to tell and sing like hell in the night
bout the man on yr mind when u turn out the light
who ignited the room when invited inside
who now is long gone and despite how forthright
was the song u played just to show how uptight
and embarrassed he made u yr loves stay strong
convincing words appear backwards and wrong
it just doesnt make sense to want to belong
with a guy who made u all tense and withdrawn
it shows u in the corner where the walls shadows
silhouette the one u wont let go who hasnt arrived yet
and he wont u know u can just forget about him though

the burden of loving someone may be better than loving no one
the burden of loving someone may be better than loving no one

im not so sure about that its not matter of fact
if the world fell in half are u for it adoring to
kick back relax and laugh and deplore
cursin all of the fools who exist to implore
writing books cursing morons who tore what
they swore gave them reasons to be:
i love him. he loves me.

and the burden of loving someone may be better than loving no one
the burden of loving someone may be better

Another Shade Of Green--->

thats the trouble these days
youll sing yr oceans of praise
u say that shes just some friend (some friend!)
but things will unravel quickly
u know youve already begun the end
just by writin those email...s
im sick to death of these female...s
im sick to death of u ...

and all the paint on the wall
the walrus sculpture at the mall
the man behind the TV
the heaters startin to bother me
and all the tv sets
theyll be on forever-er
theyll be on forever
they last infinite-e-e-e

and the bells (sound the bells!)
theyre hangin on the wall
the stupid walrus sculpture
hes still at the mall
and in the kitchen sink
another undrunk drink
another undone dream
another shade of green

im not a mission for fairy tales
im on a mission to drive them sails
im on a mission to write some songs
im on a mission to get along

but u
u wish me so farewell
well i wish the same to u
u and yr southern belle
and if u call me up
at 3am
im gonna put it straight
im gonna be a friend

If I Had A Boat--->

if i had a boat
i would sail it to the moon
way up high i would float
in a starry lagoon
and my submarine
would search in e-vuh-ry sea
for golden jellyfish
who sting like honey bees
if i had a plane
i would soar into a dream
id steal lov-uh-ly visions
of molecular collisions
where nothing is what it seems

(and if i had u i dont know what id do)

oh . . . i believe im a fairy-tale
i fly all around the world
and sometimes little ones believe in me

The Wolf Haikus--->

A wolf in the house!
Trying to eat my cousins
So I kill it dead.

But then another
So my uncle gets a gun--
Shoots from the window.

My aunt drives away.
A big wolf attacks her car
(My aunt is Aunt Dor).

Another wolf in the house!
I grab its wolf-mouth
And smash it outside.

Just then I wake up.
I say, "I just dreamed of wolves."
And you go, "Uh Oh."

Along The RiverThames--->

he looked like that picasso painting brought to life
the one with the old man possessing a broken neck and a guitar
and besides, his entire face was painted blue
then, right beside him, i saw a man without any head
just shoulders in a tuxedo carrying an umbrella
posing with children whose parents were proud to pay one pound
