my sunken eyes are fixed on the synthetic skyline
Its judging stare cannot unbolt my façade
Because all i see is vacant affection
Its voice is hollow, its words useless
No heartrending touch can reach me
Because i'm already an insignificant nonentity
my nonexistent heart beats only in my memories
And the city’s bitter breath endlessly whispers to me
Enticing me with desires i was once better than
Nobody can see me fading
As i tempt the distance i loathe
To infect the line between who i was and who i am
It wraps its pestilent fingers around me
Engulfing me in the excruciating torment
i willingly surrender to the promising clasp
Its daunting grasp loosens as i wilt into submission
i kiss the sweet merciless fingers
That reviled me enough to set me free.
my lifeless gaze is still fixed on the synthetic skyline
But i'm too empty to even hate it
And i know the city has won.
